Lake Skinner

Lake Skinner Recreation Area, northeast of town, has dirt trails along the shoreline with big lake views. It's especially good at sunset. It's a Riverside County park with a day-use fee, so check current hours and trail rules before you go.

Riding tips

  • Ride early. Summer afternoons get hot, and there's little shade on open trails.
  • Carry more water than you think.
  • E-bikes: rules differ by trail and park. Check posted signs, and slow down on shared paths.
  • Don't ride after tasting. Bike to Old Town for lunch, but plan wineries with a driver or tour.

It's planned as a loop of roughly 16 to 17 miles around the city, linking Old Town and wine country. Some sections are still being completed, so check the Temecula Valley Bike Coalition map for what's open.
